Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez have developed Desserto® and Deserttex®, two new-generation plant-based biomaterials made from nopal, a cactus grown in Mexico, which helps capture CO2 from the atmosphere.
Desserto® and Deserttex® have the aesthetic and technical features to meet the needs of the leather goods, packaging, interior decoration and automotive industries.
They are free of toxic chemicals, phthalates and strive to be PVC-free, an aim that has been attained by 61% of their composition, certified by the USDA, making the material partially biodegradable.
Desserto® produces its materials in a short circuit in Mexico. Deserttex® is the textile version dedicated to automotive applications, used today by BMW.
