The Tannerie Rémy Carriat is a family business founded in 1927 in the village of Espelette, in the heart of the Basque Country in France. It specialises in the production of high-quality leather.
The Tannerie's leathers are designed for footwear, furniture, accessories, leather goods and saddlery.
The company uses traditional dyeing and tanning techniques to create leathers with exceptional colours and finishes. That's why our leathers are renowned for their quality, beauty and durability.
Our production process is meticulous and requires traditional know-how. The transmission of this know-how is therefore of fundamental value to us. Human hands and expertise enable us to maintain our level of excellence.
That's why we can guarantee you: the choice of the finest skins, both bull and buffalo, as well as a recognised know-how in tanning and finishing.
To maintain our level of excellence, we focus on: the quality of our products, the traceability of our skins, our strict management of the use of chemicals, and our environmental and social commitment.
It is thanks to these values and commitments that the tannery became a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG) in 2020.
Audits carried out under this certification scheme assess various aspects of the tannery's performance, such as traceability of materials, rational management of chemical products and socio-environmental criteria. In 2022, Tannerie Rémy Carriat was awarded a bronze medal in our latest audit.
