Rfive is a textile recycling project promoted by Lurdes Sampaio, a Portuguese knitting company, which responds to environmental issues using circular economy principles, offering a closed-loop recycling solution.
In partnership with Recutex, a recycling company, and Fiavit, a spinning mill, Rfive recovers scraps, garments and dead stock textiles from brands and manufacturers and transforms them, as needed, into new fibers, new yams, new garments, all made in Portugal.
This reduces greenhouse gases by 90%, energy costs by 70% and water costs by 60%. The transformation is done without chemicals.
The materials and products are GRS® certified and meet a life cycle assessment (LCA) metric. Rfive ensures the traceability and transparency of the recycling process, right up to the finished product.
